My First Blog EVER!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to touch base with my customers on more of a personal level and that really wasn't an option directly on my website, so I have created this blog to do so. I was upset to find out that my website didn't have a photo gallery available, we get so many amazing picture while out on the boat. Last Wednesday we had a pod of Pacific White Tail Porpoises hanging around our boat while we were collecting sea water. It's just to awesome not to share, unfortunately I forgot the camera but I snapped a mental picture, an unforgettable one. Next time I'll be with my camera in hand, hoping they come to visit again.

I must say that I couldn't be happier doing what I am doing. Its been a tough road to find out what it was that I was going to be when I grew up ; ) I have worked in the service industry since I was a teen but none of those jobs felt like home, there was aways something missing.  I think I've got it and no more searching is need, I am Jesseasalt now or Little Miss Salty (another vendor nicknamed me that at a Christmas market I did last year). Ha ha, you can call me Jess, Jessie or Jessica if you like that better, I'm easy going. I hope everyone in the world one day can enjoy my salts. It is a labour & time intensive process, but the concept is simplistic. To get the salt we evaporate the seawater,  if only it was physically that simple!

Salt has been around for a longggggggg time and we can't live without it. Humans and salt are two peas in a pod, and we are nuts to think we don't need it. It is a very important component of our diet, just as water is. Really I'm not kidding, even the Biology 12 program will go through the importance, the Sodium Potassium pump? Do you remember now? I feel like it is my job to bring you the healthily version of salt. A natural sea salt, that doesn't have a bunch of chemicals & preservatives added to it.  We skipped on adding the Iodine to it as well. The reason why we skipped Iodine is that it leaches out anyway unless you add another synthetic chemical to hold it in there. Nope, it's not for us then. Iodine can be found in a lot of other foods, it really doesn't have to be put in the salt. Eat navy beans, potatoes, cranberries, kelp (in any form) kombucha tea or seafood, you can find Iodine in other leafy greens that have been grown in good soil too. Bottom line is that we are granting you the opportunity to taste the Island; a true & healthy taste.  Check back for more posts soon, I love chatting!
